Type III Hardcoat

Type III Hardcoat Anodize-
Clear (Natural) or Black

Anodizing Specialists offers Type III anodizing services for many industries. As a sulfuric acid bath, this coating can be done in a clear non-dyed appearance (natural) or black.  Type III Hardcoat is much thicker and denser than standard Type II anodizing.  Hardcoat or Hard Anodizing is used when components are subject to extreme wear applications, corrosive environments or where enhanced electrical insulation is needed.

Type III anodize is an aluminum only oxidation process with a thickness of coatings ranging from .0005-.0025 total build up. If applying a .002 thick coating,
to a 1.000" round bar, your finish dimension after Hard Anodize would be 1.002".  Hard Anodize is a very hard aluminum oxide coating and is approximately 65 on Rockwell C similar to
hardened high speed carbon and tool steels.
